James B. Stewart

James Stewart is a senior commercial partner with the firm and has practiced in Surrey since 1980.
His business practice involves advising on all of the legal aspects of dealing with real estate and advising on all legal matters relating to the formation and operation of businesses. He is experienced in real estate development and subdivision, joint ventures, residential and commercial transfers, leasing and financing secured by real property. He often deal with real estate projects from the acquisition of the land through its development to its eventual sale. He advises client with respect to incorporation and company law, partnerships, the purchase and sale of businesses and the purchase and sale of assets used in those businesses, and the crafting of the contracts required for the proper and successful operation of any commercial enterprise.
James Stewart also practices extensively in the area of personal planning through the use of wills, estate plans, estate administration and probate law, and through the use of powers of attorney and representation agreements to appoint alternate decisionmakers. He is the principal partner practicing in these areas at Hamilton Duncan. He has often lectured to various community, business and client groups on these topics.
