Jason is a corporate and commercial lawyer with a particular focus on business structures and corporate transactions, business succession planning, and real estate acquisitions, development and finance.
Corporate/Tax
Jason has advised hundreds of business start ups and acted in the set up of their business structures, including incorporations, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, joint ventures, shareholder agreements and partnership agreements.
Corporate reorganizations and tax based transactions comprise a primary part of his practice, including 85, 86 and 51 transactions, amalgamations, wind ups, estate freezes, family trusts, stock, capital and eligible dividends, and share issuances.
Jason has been a guest lecturer for Small Business BC for the past 6 years where he enjoys helping entrepreneurs and businesses get started and grow to their next stage of development. Jason has also co-authored and been a contributing editor of various legal publications and resources.
Business Succession
Jason advises business owners on their succession options and exit strategies, which has included selling to family, management, competitors, equity and investment funds, and other interested parties. His corporate/tax background and extensive experience acting in business purchases, sales and buyouts is an essential part of this practice area.
Real Estate
Jason’s practice includes acting for buyers and sellers of real estate. He also acts for developers in connection with the legal side to real estate development, including joint ventures, subdivisions, consolidations, easements, restrictive covenants, rights of way, marketing, sales and finance.
Finance
Jason acts for banks, credit unions and other financial institutions in connection with all aspects of secured and unsecured financings and transactions. He also acts for private lenders and borrowers.
Jason enjoys golf, hockey, fishing and boating.
