It was with a profound sense of sadness that we lost our friend and colleague, Allan Watchorn, on September 2, 2021.
Allan received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia in 1968 and graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia in 1971. In 1972, Allan was called to the British Columbia Bar and became a well-respected barrister, gaining extensive experience in personal injury cases, estate litigation matters, commercial disputes and criminal law matters. He was a true trial lawyer who appeared before the Provincial Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of British Columbia as well as the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal during a career that spanned nearly 50 years.
Allan joined Hamilton Duncan in 2012 and quickly became a valuable member of our team. In addition to being the firm’s senior litigator, Allan was a cherished friend, a source of wisdom, inspiration and humour for the rest of the firm and an incredible mentor for our younger lawyers. Throughout his time at Hamilton Duncan, Allan practiced law as he lived his life: full of passion, excited for new challenges and with a smile on his face. We will miss Allan greatly, but will also remember fondly his contributions to the profession, our firm and our lives, all of which are better because of him.
For inquiries about matters that Allan was handling, please contact our Chief Operating Officer, Aynsley Laluk, at email@example.com, who can direct those inquiries to the appropriate members of our firm.
